岩手県漁港で ' 50年代に使われていた大漁旗。

昔、めでたく大漁の時に、丘で待つ仲間や家族に大漁を知らせ、また

仲間に積みきれない程の魚を運ぶのを助けてもらう為の合図に

船に掲げた大きな旗を大漁旗と言います。

そのため沖合いの遠くからでも目立つように派手な色や柄が使われていました。

大漁の願いを込めておめでたい鶴や亀、鯛などの模様が描かれています。

残念ながら今ではもう見られなくなった風習です。

色は多少、海の塩風で褪せていますが、丁寧な継当てが施されています。

ポケットの横に目立つようにその継当てを置きました。漁師とその家族にとっては大漁旗が

宝物であった事がうかがわれる愛おしい継当てです。

A Japanese old flag for fishing used in the 50s in the IWATE prefecture,

to signal to their loved ones that they had a great catch, or

to their colleagues to request help to carry the huge loads of fishes.

Bold colors and designs were used so the flag was visible among the offing waves.

Scenes depicting auspicious figures such as cranes, turtles, or sea breams

were used to wish for a greatcatch.

Unfortunately, this sweet tradition no longer exists.

Some  colors faded after long exposure to the salt breeze, however loveable patches done

so carefully that shows the families tender feelings towards the flag,

so we purposely placed these on the side of the pocket of SHIB's.
